TransportationAn MG driving past a rock cut on County Road 5

Drive, fly, take the train or come by boat: Leeds Grenville is situated between the larger centres of Kingston and Ottawa, is close to Toronto and Montreal, a few hours from Syracuse, New York State, and less than a seven-hour drive from New York City. Driving here is easy with the major thoroughfare Highway 401 running east-west across the Counties, with links to the U.S. and Highway 416 linking us to the Capital. If you're not wanting to travel by car, getting here is easy by train with the main VIA Rail line running through, by bus (Megabus, Coach Canada and Greyhound) airplane or boat. VIA Rail has several stops per day in Brockville and limited stops in Gananoque (see additional info in the land section). Two airports are nearby: the Brockville 1000 Islands Regional Tackaberry Airport and the Rideau Lakes Aerodome.

The Counties is a largely rural area where travel from community to community is typically by vehicle. In the larger urban centres and towns of North Grenville, Brockville, Gananoque, Prescott, Westport and Rideau Lakes taxicab service is available. Taxicab companies are not based in every small community but service is typically located nearby in one of these larger centres. The City of Brockville operates a bus transit system for travel within the city.
