Committees & Boards
The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville governs itself through two standing Committees, the Governance and Finance Committee and the Public Works Committee The roles of Standing Committees are:
- to guide staff, through the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), on the direction and nature of the policy development, fact-finding, analysis and generation of alternatives required
- to receive public delegations and establish mechanisms to receive further public input on vital public policy matters
- to provide guidance and direction to staff through the CAO where policy interpretation or clarification is required during the administration or implementation of policy, and
- to provide staff, through the CAO with direction and guidance on policy and level of service priorities so the programs within the Committee's purview may be refined to meet established budget targets.
Certain services delivered to the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville are governed by the Leeds and Grenville Joint Services Committee (JSC) which has an indirect reporting relationship to Counties Council.
The JSC is responsible for budget and service levels related to social services, social housing, land ambulance, and provincial offences administration.
Members of Counties Council are also appointed to the Board of Management of St. Lawrence Lodge and the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Board of Health.
